Betrayal, like many things is a slow-growing, festering disease. One day it may be a simple lie, an act of painful disrespect. Betrayal always hurts the most when it comes from the people you love, those that promise they will never hurt you. We tolerate more and more hurt, we nearly breakdown, because our love for people can be so great. These people justify their actions with simple apologies, or sometimes no words at all. Know that no matter how many times you have been hurt by people you love, knocked down by those you need to help pick you up, you are never alone. If you are out there, fighting, you are loved, even when life seems so dark. I’m still fighting and each time I get knocked down I will keep standing back up again, no matter how much it hurts.
This is a quick self-portrait, revealing that no matter how damaged, defective or scarred one may feel on the outside, underneath we are all human and we are all on this journey together. Why not try to love one another and why not try to love ourselves for who we are?
